The computer has now become one of the most important tools that a writer uses and while there may still be a few traditionalists who prefer doing their writing on an old-fashioned typewriter, the convenience that the computer brings is unquestionable.

As a matter of fact, writers now have more options laid before them when choosing what kind of computer they want to use. They can opt for a desktop PC or go with a convenient laptop and they can choose to go even smaller and get themselves a Netbook. There are computers, along with computer desks for small spaces that will fit almost any reasonable budget.

Once a writer has the computer of their choice, the next step entails finding a small computer desk to house the machine. No one wants to have a bulky piece of new furniture eating up more space so a small table will do quite nicely.

Writers who have a desktop computer will want one that has ample table top space to fit both the monitor and CPU. If the printer that they have is small enough, it may also be able to fit on top but if not, a table with storage space underneath can be a suitable alternative.

Now, if a writer happens to have a laptop or Netbook, the convenience of being able to move it around easily should not be an excuse to not get a table for it. After all, a writer should always try to have one area in their home where they can concentrate on just their writing.

Yes, a laptop is handy enough to carry and move outside the home for opportunities to write in a different location but having a small computer desk at home can represent "writing central" and this is where their laptop and other items will be housed.

A writer's home is the one place where they can spend hours writing, reviewing, editing, re-writing, and so on. Even if they choose to write elsewhere every now and again, they often still return home to do other things with regards to whatever they are currently writing, such as research, proofread, etc. A small computer desk that is reserved for their laptop and other writing essentials (i.e. pens, paper, and the like) will aid in having everything they need conveniently set up in one specific location. Other things such as a printer, desk lamp, and telephone can also be added in the working area.

Wherever a writer's "writing central" or the area where they do most of their work, having one of the small computer desks that will house everything is a great way to keep your writing organized.

This is where they can sit down and free themselves from any distractions and just focus on what needs to be done for the day or night.
