You can actually gain from this book!
If this is the same book I had many years ago in my own high school days, I can proudly say it taught me a lot about the English language. We used to make small flashcards with the word on one side, and the meaning on the other, and quiz ourselves and others about them every week. It really does help, though I'm sure many students don't want to take the time to learn, and that would be unfortunate. At our school way back when, we had a stiff curriculum and I look back now with the realization that even while we hated it then, the final experiences will live with me forever, and that's a GOOD thing.

How to Really Learn Vocabulary
I too used this book in middle school in Humanities. It has proved incredible at providing me with an appropriate foundation for a well-articulated, thoughtful life. I owe much of my academic career to the presentation of vocabulary in Word Wealth, allowing me to present my ideas precisely and clearly. I highly recommend this book for anyone who wishes to communicate effectively.

Every child entering or in high school should know the words in this book. They are words that they will often encounter in the world and on the SAT.

Extend Your Vocabulary
Is a good book to learn really weird any strage words that drive other people up the wall with how strange they are. If you want to show off how many really cool, exotic words you know, then you should read this book to get some more. Read it and be SMART with words!

Vocabulary Word Wealth Review
I had to read this heinous book in Humanities class, and I am glad to say that I am emancipated from it. My school owes the entire class restitution for making us use this novel. However, I refuse to become maudlin about this book. The only advantage to using it is that you learn big words like these, and can annoy people by using them.
